Web Accessibility Statement
Information on our efforts to make our website properties fully inclusive.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
MERAK Systems Corporation is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all individuals, including those with disabilities. We strive to consistently exceed the minimum requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Accessibility for Manitobans Act. We do this by building our web properties to the highest set of published standards in compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AAA.
We recognize the importance of an inclusive digital experience for both our own web spaces as well as for websites and webapps we build for our clients. Toward this commitment, we routinely implement the following accessibility features on all our sites:
- Keyboard Navigation: Our website can be navigated using only a keyboard, allowing users who cannot (or choose not to) use a mouse to access content seamlessly.
- Alternative Text for Images: All non-decorative images include descriptive alternate (“alt”) text to assist users relying on screen readers.
- Captioned and Transcribed Multimedia: Video content is provided with captions and transcripts to ensure accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Contrast and Readability: We use high and properly contrasting colors and scalable fonts to enhance readability for users with low vision and visual impairments.
- Forms and Interactive Elements: Our online forms are designed with proper labeling, accessibility supports, and instructions to support users with cognitive or motor skill disabilities.
- Accessible PDFs and Documents: Any downloadable content, such as PDFs, are formatted to be screen reader-friendly.
- Tap Sizes: Links, navigation elements and buttons are all sized to a minimum of 44px in height to make touch-devices more accessible and the links easier to access.
- Link Targets: All link destinations will open in the same window, protecting the integrity of the browser’s “back” button and history features, unless otherwise denoted with an icon or help text.
